Who we are
Faro Surf Rentals is a brand of NomadCanguru, Lda, tax number PT514806451, based at Rua Aquilino Ribeiro 124, 8005-177 Faro, Portugal. We are responsible for the personal data described on this page. You can reach us at info@oceancamper.com or on +351 920 301 044.
What data we collect and why
- Bookings. When you book, we collect your name, e-mail address, phone number, the items you book, the pick-up and return dates and any note you add. We use this to manage your booking, contact you about it and hand over the equipment. Legal basis: the rental contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Payment. You pay at pick-up, by card or in cash. This website does not collect card details.
- Invoices and accounts. We keep the data needed for invoices and accounting records for as long as Portuguese law requires (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).
- Messages. If you write to us by e-mail or WhatsApp, or call us, we use your details to answer you and to handle your request. Legal basis: steps you ask us to take before a booking, or our legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
- Website security. When you visit, our hosting provider records technical data such as your IP address and browser type in server logs, to keep the website running and secure. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a safe website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). These logs are deleted automatically after a short period.
- Website statistics. Only if you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this website. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time.
To book, you need to give us your name, e-mail address and phone number; without them we cannot take your booking. We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
How long we keep it
We keep booking data for as long as we need it for your booking and any follow-up, and invoices and accounting records for the period set by Portuguese tax law (currently 10 years). Messages are deleted when they are no longer needed.
Who receives your data
We do not sell your data. It is processed by our website hosting provider, Hostinger, by our certified accountant for invoices, and, if you contact us there, by the e-mail and WhatsApp services you use. If you accept cookies, Google receives website usage data through Google Analytics. Google and WhatsApp (Meta) may process data outside the European Union; such transfers are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. The Google reviews shown on this website are displayed with the Trustindex service, and the reviewers' profile pictures are loaded from Google's servers, so Trustindex and Google receive your IP address when the page loads. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in showing genuine customer reviews (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The map on our homepage is embedded from Google Maps, so Google also receives your IP address when the map loads; we use it to show you where to find us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies:
- cookie_notice_accepted: remembers your cookie choice, for one month. Necessary.
- PHPSESSID: keeps your booking cart while you browse, deleted when you close the browser. Necessary.
- wp-wpml_current_language: remembers the language you chose, for one day. Necessary.
- _ga and _ga_*: Google Analytics statistics, for up to two years. Set only after you click Accept.
Google Analytics does not load until you accept cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the button at the bottom of the page, or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, and to correct, delete, restrict or transfer it, and you can object to its use or withdraw your consent. Just write to info@oceancamper.com. We answer within one month. Withdrawing your consent does not affect what we did with your data before. If you think we have not handled your data properly, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD (www.cnpd.pt).
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
